In my superficial jaunts about the city thus far, the most striking difference is the scale of new interventions at places like Schwedenplatz and Karlsplatz.
Granted they have to make certain sweeping gestures in order to function, but that seems to be where consideration left off. Other changes: more ethnic variety of eating options from restaurants to Naschmarkt offerings.
(and it's a damn lucky thing the Danube flows the direction it does; tragic events in Hungary)
