I’d never heard of Bruce Conner before today (born in Kansas 1933) but he was a pioneer of art films apparently. I was mesmerized by a Marilyn Monroesque woman dancing in a grainy, fast cut, frenzy of hair, body and music in BreakAway. Wow. He collaged videos of atomic bomb tests slowed, accelerated to luscious sounds. That one enraptured, fixed by their uncanny beauty. Kunsthalle – good stuff on a chilly day.
